01 Make French the first language

Every BestWebby store can be shown in Canadian French, on every plan. Shoppers can pick French at the bottom of any page.

For a Québec store, open “Sites” and type fr-CA in your store’s “Language” field, then click away from it to save.

Shoppers then see the store in French unless they choose another language, and search engines are told it is in French.

02 What is translated for you

BestWebby writes the store’s own text and translates it for you: the header and cart, the whole checkout, the account pages and the shopper emails.

Tax lines follow: GST, HST, QST and PST show as TPS, TVH, TVQ and TVP at a French checkout.

Each email goes out in the language the shopper was using, such as the one they checked out in. Your own text is yours to translate.

03 What is still in English

Open “French for Québec” under Catalog. The cards count what is “In English only”, the “Products missing French” and the “Drafts to review”.

Each list below links to the fix: a product’s French text, “Add French” on a collection, a French page or policy, or a French email.

Category labels and your own menus are “Shown exactly as you typed them”, so read them and reword them where they should be French.

04 Approve French drafts

Tick up to five products and press “Draft a French translation”, or “Draft French for all missing”. Each uses one of your daily automatic drafts.

Drafts keep brand names, trademarks and model numbers as written, and nothing is published until you approve it.

Under “Drafts to review”, change anything in the boxes and press “Approve and publish”. “Dismiss” throws a draft away.

To approve several at once, tick “I have read this draft” on each, then press Approve ticked.

05 The QST alert

If you ship from a province outside Québec, BestWebby adds up your sales shipped to Québec over the last 12 months, once a day.

At 80% and again at 100% of CA$30,000, the point at which Revenu Québec expects you to register for the QST, you are told in the dashboard and by email.

Registering and charging QST stay with you, and this is information, not tax advice. Next: clothing that fits.

Ouvrez « French for Québec » sous Catalog.
