01 Tips before tax
If you take tips, the till shows the “Tip” buttons and a “Custom tip amount” box. A percentage is worked out on the goods after any points discount, before tax and shipping.
Under the buttons the till says what the tip is of, such as 15% of $100.00 before tax, and the total, the card reader and the receipt all charge that same tip.
Québec has required this since May 7, 2025, and BestWebby does it for every store. A custom amount is charged exactly as typed.
02 Cash in and out of the drawer
To move cash without a sale, click “Cash in / out” at the top of the till. Choose “Paid in”, “Paid out” or “Cash drop”, enter the “Amount” and the “Reason”, then click “Record”.
Paid in is cash put in that is not a sale, such as change from the bank. Paid out pays for something, such as a courier. A cash drop goes to the safe during the shift.
Each one is kept with its reason, the cashier and the time, goes in the audit log, and changes the cash the drawer should hold. You cannot take out more than that.
03 A manager over the paid out limit
Paid outs are counted over the whole drawer: once the paid outs from one drawer add up to more than your limit, the next one needs a manager. So does a single cash drop over it.
First, the till’s sign-in must be an owner, admin or manager, with its “Authenticator code” if it uses two-factor sign-in. Then the manager picks their name and types their “Manager PIN”.
Give someone the Manager role and a PIN in the till’s Cashier window, with “Make manager” under “Manage”. A store with no manager PIN approves with the till’s sign-in, and says so.
Set the “Paid out limit” in “POS setup” under “Settings”: 50.00 unless you change it. 0 means every paid out and every cash drop needs a manager, and paid in never does.
A drawer opened under a cashier’s PIN needs that PIN for any cash in or out, and a closed drawer takes none.
04 The drawer at the end of the shift
At “End shift”, the expected cash is the float and the cash sales, plus paid in, minus cash refunds, paid out and cash drops, so a drawer with cash moves still balances.
The “Shift summary” shows “Paid in”, “Paid out” and “Cash drops” on lines of their own, and “Download cash in / out (CSV)” saves each one with its reason.
Every shift under “Shifts” shows its paid in, paid out and cash drops beside the cash sales.
05 Receipts in English or French
Each register has a “Receipt language”: “English”, or “Français (Canada)” for a store in Québec. Set it when you add or edit the register in “POS setup”.
Its sale, gift, layaway and emailed receipts print in that language. At the till, “Receipt language” switches one sale, and the next sale goes back to the register’s own.
06 Tax numbers and the French receipt
Every tax number you enter prints on your receipts, one line each. On “Billing details”, the “Tax ID (optional)” is your GST/HST number; add the “QST number (optional)” beside it.
A QST number is ten digits, then TQ, then four digits, and one in the wrong shape is not saved. Below are boxes for BC PST, Saskatchewan PST and Manitoba RST numbers.
A French receipt prints money as 12,50 $, dates as 3 nov. 2026, and GST, QST, HST and PST as TPS, TVQ, TVH and TVP. Your product names print as you wrote them.
