01 Open Bulk edit

“Bulk edit” under “Catalog” opens your products in a grid you edit like a spreadsheet: one row per product, and one row under it per variant.

Open it from the menu for the whole catalogue, from “Bulk edit” on the products list as it is filtered, or tick products and click “Bulk edit” in the bar for just those.

Each row shows the name, SKU, barcode, price, compare-at price, cost, stock, weight, status, tax category and shipping class. Up to 500 products open at a time.

02 Edit like a spreadsheet

Arrows, Tab and Enter move around; start typing to replace a value. Copy cells in your spreadsheet and press Ctrl+V to paste a column or a block.

Select a column and click “Fill down” to give it the top cell’s value. “Undo” takes back your last change, as many times as you need, and “Redo” puts it back.

Changed cells are highlighted. A value that cannot be saved is red with the reason. A greyed cell says why, such as stock on a product with variants: the total of its variants.

03 Review and save

Click “Review changes” to see each change, before and after, then “Save”. Each row is saved as one edit in the product editor would be, with the same checks and the audit log.

A stock change is recorded with the reason Bulk edit. A row someone else changed since you opened the grid is not saved: the list names it, and “Reload” shows what it holds now.

Anyone who can see products can open the grid. Saving needs the Owner, Admin or Manager role.

04 Set a minimum age

For products only older customers may buy, such as alcohol, tobacco or some blades, open the product, go to “Compliance & customs”, and choose the age under “Age-restricted”.

Ages run from 16 to 21 or older, and “No minimum age” takes it off. Every change goes in the audit log with the old and new age.

You decide which products need an age, and you are responsible for the age laws where you sell. BestWebby records the confirmations; it does not check anyone’s ID.

05 Age checks online

The product page shows 19+ only, and the shopper ticks I confirm I am 19 or older before paying, in the cart or at checkout. Without the tick, checkout refuses the order.

The order records the age and when it was ticked, and its page shows who confirmed it. Wallet buttons and subscribing are not offered on that product page.

A shopping agent cannot confirm a person’s age, so agent checkouts refuse a basket with an age-restricted item and send the buyer to your own checkout.

06 Check ID at the till and at hand-over

At the till, adding the item asks the cashier to check ID. Press “Confirm” only after you have seen ID; “Remove item” leaves it out. The sale records who checked.

The packing slip says to check ID on delivery or at pickup, and the pickup hand-over and the driver’s page show “Check ID:” with the age.

In the Ship dialog, “Adult signature on delivery” is ticked, so the label asks the carrier for an adult signature. Carriers charge extra; untick it to buy without.

Next: item fees, eco fees and container deposits.
