Transcript
01 Setting up an item fee
Some products carry a charge on top of their price: an eco fee on electronics, tires or paint, or a deposit on drink containers. Under “Finance”, open “Item fees”.
Under “Add a fee”, type the “Name shoppers see” and choose the “Kind”: “Fee (environmental handling)” or “Deposit (containers)”.
Under “Amount”, charge an amount “Per unit” or a “Percent of the price”, then enter it. You set every amount: BestWebby charges exactly what you enter and never looks one up.
02 Where and on what it is charged
Tick the provinces it is charged in, under “Provinces and territories (none ticked = all of Canada)”. A container deposit follows each province’s own schedule.
Choose what it is charged on: “Products in these categories”, “Products with these tags”, or “These products”, found with “Search products”.
“Charge sales tax on this fee” starts ticked for a fee and unticked for a deposit, the usual treatment. It is your call: check with your province or your accountant.
Tick “Count it toward the order value shipping rates are priced on” only if you want that. Click “Add fee”: it shows under “Your fees”, where “Turn off” stops it.
03 How a fee is charged
A fee is charged only where the goods go in Canada: the province a delivery goes to, the store a pickup is collected from, or the register’s store at the till.
It is charged per unit and never discounted: no code, bundle, promotion or points take anything off it, and a percent fee is of the price before any discount.
Orders outside Canada, gift cards, bookings, Subscribe & Save renewals, B2B drafts and quotes, terms invoices and imported orders carry none. Add a line yourself where one applies.
Each order keeps every fee it charged on its own line, under the items on the order page. Changing or deleting a fee later never changes an order already placed.
04 What the shopper sees
On the product page the fee shows under the price, with where it is charged, such as “Charged on orders delivered or picked up in Canada.”
In the cart each item lists its fee, with “Eco fees and deposits for your province are added at checkout.” Checkout adds them once the address is in.
The order confirmation, the receipt and the customer’s order page list each fee. The till shows and prints them, and draft orders include them. Packing slips do not.
05 Refunds give fees back
Refunding items gives back those units’ fees: refund half the units and half the fee goes back. A refund of an amount gives fees back in proportion.
A return’s amount includes the returned units’ fees. An order edit that takes units off takes their fees off too, and a product added by an edit takes today’s fees.
06 Item fees in Tax filing
Under “Finance”, open “Tax filing”, or click “Fees collected (Tax filing)” on “Item fees”. Below the tax, “Item fees and deposits” covers the same period.
Each fee and province shows “Units sold”, “Collected”, “Units returned”, “Refunded” and “Net”: the net is what you remit to the program.
Fees count in the period the order was paid, and refunds in the period of the refund, as for tax. “Download fees CSV” saves the same figures.

Choisissez sur quoi il s’applique : « Products in these categories », « Products with these tags » ou « These products », trouvés avec « Search products ».
Cochez « Count it toward the order value shipping rates are priced on » seulement si vous le voulez.
Dans le panier, chaque article affiche son frais, avec « Eco fees and deposits for your province are added at checkout.
