Transcript

01 Your setup address

Your store starts on a bestwebby.com address, where you set it up and preview it. Open “Domains” in Settings. “Stores go live on a domain you own.”

While you set up, you can rename that address: type a name under “New bestwebby.com address” and press “Change address”.

Links to the old name keep working: they redirect to the new one, and the old name stays reserved for you for 180 days.

02 Find a domain

No domain yet? “Find a domain name” suggests names from your store’s name and checks whether someone already owns them.

“Looks available” is read from the public registries as you search; a registrar confirms it when you buy. “BestWebby does not sell domains.”

Buy the one you like at any domain registrar, then press “I own it: connect”.

03 Connect a domain you own

Press “Connect domain” and enter “Your domain”: no https, just the name. A subdomain such as shop.yourbrand.com works too.

Under “Which store is it for?”, keep your existing store. It moves onto the domain with its products, pages and settings.

Press “Add & show DNS records”.

04 Two DNS records

“Step 1 — Prove you own the domain”: at your DNS provider, add the TXT record shown, copying its host and its value.

“Step 2 — Point the domain at us”: add the A record. On Cloudflare, set its proxy status to DNS only.

Optionally add the www record too, so www addresses reach your store. Then press “Verify & issue SSL”.

05 Certificate and move

The status follows the domain: “Awaiting DNS verification”, then “Issuing SSL…”. Once DNS has spread, the certificate is usually issued within minutes.

A live store stays live on its current address until the new domain is verified and has its certificate. Then the old address redirects to it.

Changed your mind before then? “Cancel change” keeps your store where it is. Next: taking payments.

« Stores go live on a domain you own. »

« BestWebby does not sell domains. »

Achetez celui qui vous plaît chez n’importe quel registraire, puis appuyez sur « I own it: connect ».

03 Connecter votre domaine

Sous « Which store is it for? », gardez votre boutique existante.

Appuyez sur « Add & show DNS records ».

04 Deux enregistrements DNS

« Step 1 — Prove you own the domain » : chez votre fournisseur DNS, ajoutez l’enregistrement TXT affiché, en copiant son hôte et sa valeur.

« Step 2 — Point the domain at us » : ajoutez l’enregistrement A. Sur Cloudflare, réglez l’état du proxy à DNS seulement.

Next on the path: Module 7, Take payments.
