01 Customs details on a product

Before a parcel crosses a border, open “Shipping” and, under “Customs declarations” on the Origin tab, name the person who signs them. A label abroad is refused until you do.

Then open each product you ship abroad, and in “Compliance & customs” enter its HS code and its two-letter country of origin. There is no default HS code: classifying is your call.

Tick “Qualifies as originating under CUSMA (USMCA)” only if you can certify it. When every item in a parcel is ticked, FedEx is asked for a certificate of origin.

02 Customs for many products

For many products, tick them on “Products” and press “Customs” in the bar. Fill in any box: one left empty keeps each product’s own value.

Or import a CSV with hs code, country of origin and cusma columns. The “sample CSV” on the import screen has all three, and “Export” writes them, ready for a spreadsheet.

A Shopify sync brings them too, a WooCommerce one when the store keeps them, and so does the API. A value customs cannot read is refused with the field named.

03 Parcels to the United States

From Canada to the United States, Canada Post now needs a Zonos Declaration ID with each parcel, and a label bought through EasyPost cannot carry one.

So BestWebby never buys Canada Post for those parcels. The cheapest of your other carriers is bought, and the Fulfil dialog tells you why before you buy.

“Buy labels” leaves Canada Post out for those orders too, and says why. If it is your only carrier with a rate, add UPS, FedEx or DHL to your EasyPost account.

When you ship from outside the US, checkout tells US shoppers under the total that the carrier may collect duties, taxes or fees on delivery. Their confirmation email says so too.

04 Pause a carrier

When a carrier stops collecting for a while, pause it once. On the “Carriers” tab, use “Pause a carrier”: tick it, write the reason and press “Save pause”. Only the owner can.

Checkout then leaves its rates out in every zone, and no label is bought from it. If an address has no other way to ship, the shopper is told delivery there is paused.

Every tab shows a banner, so it is not forgotten. The reason stays with your team unless you put it in the announcement bar. To resume, untick the carrier and save.

05 Product of Canada and Made in Canada

To say a product is Canadian, choose a “Canadian origin claim” in “Compliance & customs”. It is your claim, and BestWebby never sets it or takes it from the country of origin.

“Product of Canada” needs 98% of the direct costs to be Canadian; Made in Canada needs 51% and a “Qualifying statement”. Then tick that it meets the test.

A product taxed as food cannot carry either claim: food follows the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s rules. Every change is in the audit log.

Shoppers read the claim on the product page in your words, in English or French, and your store gets a “Canadian products” filter.

Next: launch dates, delivery dates and the carrier’s address check.

Cochez « Qualifies as originating under CUSMA (USMCA) » seulement si vous pouvez le certifier.
