Transcript
01 Set up the till
The till runs in the browser on any tablet or computer, on every plan. Set it up once, in “POS setup” under Settings.
Press “Add location” and enter the shop’s name, address and time zone. “Sells stock from” picks the stock its sales take from.
Online orders and pickups read that same count, and tax follows the shop’s address. Then press “Add register” for each till.
Under “Card readers”, pick a reader on your Stripe account, or add one by its id, and choose “Use this reader by default”.
02 Cashiers and the opening float
Now open “POS” under Channels. Choose “Add a cashier” for each person, and give them a “PIN” they enter to sign in.
That way every sale, tip and drawer is credited to the person who really made it.
Press “Start shift”, choose the location and the register, confirm the cashier, and count the “Opening float” already in the drawer.
A register has one open drawer at a time: a second device that opens the same register joins the drawer already open.
03 A sale with two tenders
Find a product by name or SKU, scan its barcode, or tap it in the grid. Attach a “Customer” so the sale lands in their order history.
The till asks the server for the total as the sale changes, with tax for this register’s shop. “Charge” waits until the total is in.
For two tenders, choose “Split payment” and enter an amount for each method. “Fill remaining” puts what is left on the last one.
When it reads “Balanced”, press “Charge”. Print the receipt, or email it from your store’s own address.
04 Card reader and Interac debit
Choose “Card reader” and press “Charge”. The amount goes to your reader, and the sale is recorded only once the card is captured.
In a store that sells in Canadian dollars, the reader also takes Interac debit. Your Stripe reader must be registered to a location in Canada.
Interac debit is taken the moment the customer approves it, cannot be cancelled after that, and never works offline.
The receipt and the order show it as Interac debit.
05 Returns at the till
Press “Return” on the till and find the sale by receipt number, email or name. Pick the items and quantities coming back.
Under “Give the money back as”, choose “Cash from this drawer”, “Back to the card (reader sale)” or “Store credit”.
For an Interac debit sale, choose “Back to the Interac card on the reader”. The customer taps the same card while the till waits.
Items go back on that shop’s shelf unless you untick “Put the returned items back in stock”. A refund is never more than the sale.
06 Close the drawer, clock out
At closing, press “End shift” and count the cash. The till shows what should be there: the float, plus cash taken, minus cash refunds.
It says whether the drawer is “Over” or “Short”, with the takings by payment method. Every shift is kept under “Shifts”.
On the Scale plan, your team clocks in on the till too. In “Time clock”, choose “Clock in with your PIN”, pick your name and enter your PIN.
Then “Clock in”, “Start break” or “Clock out”. Nobody can be clocked in twice. Next: sell in French for Québec.

Sous « Give the money back as », choisissez « Cash from this drawer », « Back to the card (reader sale) » ou « Store credit ».
Pour une vente par débit Interac, choisissez « Back to the Interac card on the reader ».
Dans « Time clock », choisissez « Clock in with your PIN », votre nom, puis entrez votre NIP.
Puis « Clock in », « Start break » ou « Clock out ». Personne ne peut pointer deux fois. À suivre : vendre en français au Québec.
