Market Intel: Category and Competitor Digests
Name the categories and competitors you want to follow, and get a short digest on each from a web search, on your schedule, paid from prepaid credit.
Overview
Marketing → Market intel follows the categories and competitors you name. On your schedule, BestWebby runs a web search for each one and writes a short digest from the results: a summary, highlights, any bestsellers and prices the results name, and links to the sources. You read the digests on the same page.
Market intel is available on every plan. Each digest is paid from a prepaid credit balance, so nothing is charged until you add credit and switch it on. Owners, admins and managers can change what is tracked; adding credit needs an owner or admin.
Step 1: Add credit
The Credit section shows your balance, the approximate cost of one digest, and whether the balance is active.
- Click one of the amounts, or type an amount in the box and click Add. The box shows the smallest amount you can add.
- Pay on the payment page that opens. Tax is added according to the billing address on your account, so add your billing address under Billing first.
- You come back to Market intel. The credit can take a minute to show.
Credit is in US dollars and pays for digests only: the search and the writing of each digest, plus the platform's margin. The cost per digest shown on the page is the current rate.
Step 2: Choose what to follow
- Categories — up to 10, such as "home decor" or "trail running shoes". Each digest covers trends, bestsellers and prices in that category.
- Competitors — up to 15. Enter the store or brand name and, if you know it, its website domain, which makes the search more precise.
Each one is saved the moment you add or remove it.
Step 3: Set the schedule
- Tick Enabled.
- Set the days between scans, from 1 to 90. Seven (weekly) is recommended.
Scans are checked once a day, so the first digests arrive within a day of switching on. After each scan the page shows Next scan around a date.
Push a WhatsApp summary when new digests are ready sends one message after a scan that wrote at least one digest, to the number your Daily Brief uses. It needs a WhatsApp number connected under Settings → WhatsApp (rolling out).
Read your digests
Digests lists your 30 most recent, newest first, each marked Category or Competitor with its subject, date and summary. Click one to open:
- the highlights;
- Bestsellers named in the results;
- Prices named in the results, in US dollars;
- Sources, links to the pages the digest was written from.
A digest states only what the search results say. When no result names a price or a bestseller, none is listed rather than one being guessed.
Price history charts appear when the same item is priced in two or more digests for the same subject, up to six charts.
What you pay for
- One digest per category or competitor per scan.
- You are charged only when a digest is written. A subject whose search finds nothing is skipped without charge.
- When the balance cannot cover the next digest, that subject is skipped for this scan. Categories are scanned first, then competitors, in the order you added them.
- While your BestWebby account is switched off, no scans run and nothing is charged.
If the balance shows paused — contact support, digests are stopped on your account; contact support.
Good to know
- Digests come from public web search results. They can be incomplete or out of date: open the sources before acting on a figure.
- Prices are read as the results state them and shown in US dollars.
