Product Insights: Origin, Ingredients and Certifications on Product Pages
Record where a product comes from, what is in it and what it is certified for, and choose which of those details shoppers see on product pages.
Overview
Catalog → Product insights is where you record facts about each product: country of origin, manufacturer, ingredients, allergens, certifications, carbon footprint and packaging. What you fill in appears on the product page in a Product details section, and is included in the product information your pages give search engines.
Product insights is part of the Scale plan and above.
Step 1: Fill in a product's details
- Go to Catalog → Product insights. Your products are listed on the left; a green dot marks one whose details are saved.
- Click a product.
- Fill in what applies:
- Origin & manufacturing — Country of origin and Manufacturer.
- Safety & sustainability — Safety rating, Sustainability score (0–100), Carbon footprint (kg CO₂) and Recyclable packaging.
- Certifications — click each one that applies from the twelve listed, such as ISO 9001, CE Mark, Organic, Fair Trade, Halal, Kosher, Vegan or B Corp.
- Allergens & ingredients — Allergens (comma separated), and each ingredient with its percentage if you know it. Click + Add ingredient for another line.
- Click Save details.
BestWebby does not check certifications or claims. Only mark what you can show proof of.
Step 2: Choose what shoppers see
Shown on product pages has four switches that apply to every product in your store:
- Origin & manufacturing
- Ingredients & allergens
- Certifications
- Carbon footprint & packaging
All four are on until you switch one off. Each switch saves the moment you click it. Changes can take a few minutes to reach your product pages. Changing these switches needs the permission to change your storefront's design.
What shoppers see
On a product page, Product details lists the fields you filled in, from the groups that are switched on:
- the country of origin and the manufacturer;
- ingredients, with a percentage when you gave one between 0 and 100, and allergens;
- certifications;
- the carbon footprint, and "recyclable packaging" when that switch is on for the product.
A product with nothing filled in, or only fields in groups you switched off, shows no Product details section at all.
The Safety rating and Sustainability score are for your own records and are never shown to shoppers. Every new form starts at a rating of A and a score of 70, so a saved value there is not something a shopper or search engine can read as an independent grade.
Good to know
- The four cards at the top show Total products, Details completed, Missing details and Completion.
- The list holds your 1,000 newest products. With more than that, it says Showing the newest 1000 of your total.
- Long text is shortened on the product page: 160 characters for a single value, and up to 40 entries in a list.
- You can save details for up to 60 products an hour.
