Post-Purchase: The Thank-You Message and Products After Checkout

Write the message shoppers see when their order is confirmed, and choose up to four products to show them next.

Overview

When a shopper pays, your storefront shows an order confirmation: the order number and total, a message, and, if you choose, up to four of your products under You might also like. Orders → Post-purchase is where you set the message and the products.

Post-purchase is part of the Growth plan and above. Only the account owner can save changes.

Step 1: Write your thank-you message

  1. Go to Orders → Post-purchase.
  2. Type your message under Thank-you message, up to 2,000 characters. Line breaks are kept.
  3. Click Save changes.

If you leave the box empty, shoppers see the standard line instead: a confirmation email is on its way to their address, and they will hear from you when the order ships. Your own message replaces that line, so mention the confirmation email in it if you want shoppers to look out for it.

Step 2: Choose products to show after checkout

  1. Under Cross-sell products, type a product name in Search products to add… and click the product to add it.
  2. Add up to four. Click the × on a product to take it off.
  3. Click Save changes.

Shoppers see the products in the order you added them, each with its photo, its name and its price on that storefront, and each links to its product page. A product is left out on a storefront where it is not active, is hidden, or has no price, so with several storefronts each one shows only the products it sells.

Preview

Preview shows your message and the products you picked. With the message box empty, it shows the standard confirmation-email line described in Step 1, which is what shoppers see.

Buy now, pay later

Klarna, Afterpay/Clearpay and Affirm are not switched on from this page. They appear at checkout when they are switched on under Payment methods in your own Stripe dashboard and the order's currency and amount qualify. This page links to that Stripe screen.

Good to know

  • The message and products show on the confirmation page straight after a shopper pays. They are not added to the order confirmation email.
  • One message and one list of products cover all your storefronts. The message is shown exactly as you typed it, whatever language the shopper sees your store in.

Troubleshooting

  • A product I want is not in the search. The search looks through your 100 most recently added products.
  • A product I chose does not show after checkout. Check that it is active, and visible and priced on that storefront.
  • "Failed to save". Only the account owner can save this page.
