Inventory & Fulfilment
Micro-Fulfilment: Offer Local Fulfilment to Other Stores
Post what you can pack and ship from your own shelves, in your own city, at your own price per unit — and search what other stores have offered, so an order far from your warehouse can be fulfilled by someone who is already near the customer.
Overview
Micro-fulfilment is a board of local fulfilment offers. A store with stock on a shelf in one city posts what it could pack and ship from there; a store with an order it cannot serve cheaply searches the board for someone who can.
Micro-fulfilment is part of the fulfilment network, on the Scale plan and above.
- You post an offer. What you can fulfil, how many units, the city you would ship from, and your price per unit.
- You search other offers. By product name or by city, to find capacity near your customer.
- Offers expire. Each one can carry an end date, so the board does not fill up with capacity nobody has any more.
Who can use it. On a plan that includes it, the products:micro-fulfillment permission controls access. Find it at Orders → Micro-fulfilment.
Step 1: Post what you can fulfil
Go to Orders → Micro-fulfilment and click New offer:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Product | The product you can fulfil, in words. This is typed text, not a link to your catalogue — it is how other stores find you, so use the name a buyer would recognise. |
| Quantity | How many units you are willing to commit. |
| City and country | Where you would ship from. This is the part that makes the offer worth anything: proximity to the customer. Leave the country blank to use your shop address. |
| Price per unit | What you charge the other store per unit fulfilled, in your store's currency. Other stores see it in that currency. |
| Expires | Optional. After this, the offer stops appearing in searches. |
Step 2: Find capacity near a customer
The search box filters the board by product name or city. An order going to a customer three hundred miles from your warehouse, but ten miles from another store holding the same item, is the case this exists for: shorter journey, lower cost, faster arrival.
When you find a match, click Contact seller. The other store is notified with your store's name and your email address to reply to.
How to think about it
This is a noticeboard, not a routing engine. It does not move stock, create orders, take payment, or settle money between the two stores — you find the counterpart here and then agree the arrangement between you. Fulfilment network is the same board seen from the other side: post surplus stock you want to move, or browse what other stores are offering.
Two practical notes:
- Because the product is typed text, write the name plainly. "Blue enamel mug 350ml" finds its match; "SKU-114-B" does not.
- If your shop has no address and you leave the country blank, you are asked for one, so an offer is never filed under the wrong country.
