Quizzes: A Product-Finder Quiz on Your Store
Build a short quiz, let shoppers answer it on your store, and show them products matched to their answers.
Overview
Marketing → Quiz builds a short product-finder quiz. Shoppers answer it on your storefront at /quiz, one question at a time, and then see up to eight of your products matched to their answers.
Quizzes are part of the Growth plan and above.
Step 1: Create a quiz
- Go to Marketing → Quiz and click Create quiz.
- Enter a Quiz title, for example "Find your style".
- Three sample questions are filled in for you (style, budget and occasions). Change their wording and options to suit your shop.
- For each question, choose its type:
- Single — the shopper picks one option.
- Multiple — the shopper picks as many as apply.
- The third type gives the shopper a box to type an answer.
- Click Add option for another answer, and Add question for another question.
- Click Create quiz.
The builder has no way to remove a question or an option, and a quiz cannot be edited once it is created. Replace sample text you do not want rather than leaving it empty, and to change a quiz later, create a new one and delete or pause the old one.
Step 2: Put the quiz on your store
Your store shows one quiz: the newest one that is Live, on every storefront, at /quiz (for example yourstore.com/quiz). It is not linked anywhere on its own, so add a link to it in your menu. See Pages, menus and redirects.
- Pause takes a quiz off your store; Activate puts it back.
- The bin deletes a quiz and every answer it has collected.
While no quiz is live, the /quiz page says "There is no quiz to take right now." with a link back to your store, so take the menu link down when you pause your only quiz.
What shoppers see
One question at a time, with a progress bar. After the last question, the shopper sees Recommended for you: up to eight products, with the note "Automatically selected from your answers".
Products are matched by comparing the words in the shopper's answers with each product's tags, category and name, across the 200 newest products that storefront sells. An answer that matches a tag or category exactly counts more than a partial match. When nothing matches, the shopper sees your newest products instead, under "Here's what's new".
To get good matches, use the same words in your answer options as in your product tags and categories: an option "Minimal" matches products tagged "minimal".
See the answers
Each quiz shows how many responses it has. When the shopper is signed in to their account on your store, their answers are saved on their customer record and shown under Shopping preferences on the customer's page, listed by question number (Q0 for the first question). A later quiz replaces earlier answers. Answers from shoppers who are not signed in are counted but not shown.
There is no list or export of all responses in the dashboard yet.
