Social Media: Connect Accounts and Choose Where Each Product Is Posted

Connect Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Google Business and Pinterest, post and schedule from one place, and decide product by product which networks each one is posted to.

Overview

Everything social lives on one page: Marketing → Social (/social).

  • Connect your accounts. Facebook Page, Instagram Business, X, LinkedIn company page, Google Business Profile and Pinterest.
  • Post and schedule. Write a post, or draft one from a product, pick the networks, and post now or at a time you choose.
  • Choose per product. Each product has a Social section that says which networks it may be posted to: your store's channels, only the ones you pick, or never.
  • Keep your feed active. Catalog rotation reposts your products on a schedule, one at a time.
  • Review before it goes out. Captions written for you by the launch kit and by catalog rotation wait as drafts until you post, schedule or discard them.

Plan and access. Social is included in the Growth plan and above. Owners, admins and anyone with marketing access can connect accounts and post.

Connect your accounts

  1. Open Marketing → Social.
  2. Click Connect on a network. You sign in on that network's own page and approve access, then come back to Social.
  3. The card shows Connected.

What each connection posts to:

  • Facebook: your Facebook Page.
  • Instagram: the Instagram Business account linked to a Facebook Page you manage.
  • X: the X account you sign in with.
  • LinkedIn: a company page your login administers.
  • Google Business Profile: your business location.
  • Pinterest: a board on your Pinterest account.

If your login manages more than one Page, Instagram account, location, company page or board, Social asks which one to post to as soon as you have connected. The first one is connected straight away, so nothing breaks if you skip the question; connect again to change it later.

Google Business Profile no longer has a page of its own: it is connected and posted to here, like the other networks, and old links to the Google Business page open Social.

If a network shows Reconnect needed, the network stopped accepting the connection (for example, the access was removed, or a password was changed). Click Reconnect and approve it again. Posts to that network fail until you do; posts to your other networks are not affected.

Paste a token instead is there for operators who manage access tokens themselves. Most stores use Connect.

Choose where each product is posted

Open a product and scroll to Social. Pick one:

  • Store's channels. The product is posted wherever your automatic posting goes: every connected network catalog rotation uses.
  • Only the channels I pick. Tick the networks this product belongs on. For example, a product for Facebook only, and another for X and Instagram.
  • Never post this product. It is left out of catalog rotation, launch kits and blog auto-posts.

Click Save at the bottom of the product page. The choice applies to the automatic paths: catalog rotation, launch kits and blog auto-posts. When you post by hand you always choose the networks yourself.

You can tick a network you have not connected yet. The product will be posted there once you connect it.

Post a product now

In the product's Social section, under Post this product now:

  1. Tick the networks to post to. They start as the product's own channels.
  2. Pick the image, from the product's photos, or No image.
  3. Click Draft caption to get a caption written from the product's name, description and price, then edit it.
  4. Post now, or set a time under Schedule and click Schedule post.

The post appears under Recent posts of this product, and on the Social page, with each network's result.

Compose a post

On the Social page, under Compose a post, write the caption (or choose a product and click Draft caption), add an image link, tick the networks, and post now or schedule it.

What each network accepts:

  • Instagram needs an image.
  • X posts up to 280 characters with one image (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB). If X will not take the image, the text still goes out and the post's result says why. An X account connected before images were supported needs reconnecting once to allow them.
  • LinkedIn posts with one image, uploaded to LinkedIn (a WebP photo is converted to JPEG, which LinkedIn requires). As with X, a refused image leaves the post as text, with the reason in its result.
  • Google Business Profile posts up to 1,500 characters.
  • Pinterest needs an image, and posts it as a pin on your chosen board with the first line of the caption as its title (up to 100 characters) and the caption as its description (up to 500).
  • Facebook posts a photo when there is an image, with the caption.

When a post is about a product and your store is live, Facebook and Pinterest posts link to the product's page in your store.

Drafts

The launch kit writes a caption for each of a product's networks, and catalog rotation writes one each time it runs, unless your content-draft automation level lets it post on its own (Settings → Automation). These wait under Drafts waiting for you on the Social page:

  • Edit the caption.
  • Click Post now, or set a time and click Schedule.
  • Or click Discard.

Catalog rotation

Under Repost my catalog, turn rotation on, choose how many days apart, and tick the networks. Each time it runs, it takes the next product in your catalog, writes a new caption and posts it, or saves a draft, depending on your automation level.

Each product's Social setting narrows this: a product set to Facebook only is posted to Facebook only, and a product set to Never is skipped.

Post history

Every post is listed with its status: queued, scheduled, posted, partial (some networks posted, some did not) or failed, with each network's answer, such as "posted" or "skipped: image required".
