Regulatory Radar: Public Recall Notices Matched to Your Catalog
Recall and safety notices from the FDA, CPSC and Health Canada are read every day and checked against your products by barcode, brand and name, with a one-click start into your Recalls workflow.
Overview
Government agencies publish recall and safety notices every day. Regulatory radar (Settings → Regulatory) reads them for you and tells you when one looks like it concerns something you sell.
It reads these public sources once a day:

Vehicle recalls are left out. Every match links to the official notice, which is always the version to rely on.
Who can use it. Regulatory radar is included from the Scale plan up. Anyone who can see products can read the matches; owners, admins and managers can act on them.
Please read. A match is an automatic suggestion, not a finding, and it can be wrong in either direction: it can flag a product that is not affected, and it can miss one that is. Regulatory radar is information, not legal advice. Read the official notice, check the lots you sold, and take qualified advice before you act.
How products are matched
Each notice is compared with every product in your catalog:

| The brand is named on the notice and the product name closely matches | 85% |
| The brand is named and the name partly matches | 70% |
| No brand match, but the product name matches very closely | 55% |
| The brand is named but not the product (the notice may cover the whole brand) | 50% |
If the product's category agrees with the notice, 5 points are added. Nothing scores 100%: even a barcode match can be a different lot from the one recalled. Every match lists the reasons for its score.
Make matching more accurate by filling in each product's barcode (and variant barcodes) and brand in Catalog → Products.
Acting on a match
- Start recall opens a recall on the Recalls page for that product, with the notice, its source and your SKUs filled in. Nobody is notified and no stock is frozen yet: check the notice against the lots you sold, then use the usual Recalls steps to find affected customers, quarantine lots and send notices.
- Mark reviewed records that you have looked at it.
- Not my product moves it out of the open list. You can restore it.
Notifications and settings
When a new match reaches your threshold (80% unless you change it), owners, admins and managers are notified. Under Sources you can turn individual feeds off and change the threshold. Check catalog now runs your whole catalog against the last 90 days of notices, useful after you add barcodes or brands.
Where the data comes from
Notices are fetched directly from each agency's public service. openFDA says its data should not be relied on for medical decisions. Health Canada data is used under the Open Government Licence – Canada. The EU's Safety Gate is not included yet because it has no stable public feed we can read.
